So this time last year 13 lucky ladies were getting ready to attend the Selection Day for Tottie’s Select16 programme. Myself being one of them, I was so excited and just could not wait to get there. When the finalists were announced about a month before, all of us girls had had some contact with each other over social media which made the prospect of meeting at Tottie HQ even more exciting.  It seemed that good vibes bounced off each and every one us and there was no doubt that we were all extremely passionate about Tottie.

Now Christmas and the new year is over we can get back to normal with our routines and no more excuses for skipping riding or avoiding jobs you’re ‘too busy’ to do!

1- Final clip!

Time to get your horse’s final clip of the year done, that’s if you don’t clip all year round any way! Many say that clipping your horse after January can affect their summer coats, so better to be safe than sorry and get it done in plenty of time!

Riding a forward horse can be quite daunting especially if you're lacking in confidence and experience. As every horse is different you need to learn how to change your riding according to each horse. I remember riding a very forward horse called Vogue in the riding school and being intimidated as she was stronger than any horse I had ridden. Little did I know at the time but if I had not put my leg on then she would have been a lot easier to ride. Over winter it's more likely for horses not to be ridden as much.
