    Intelligent Horsemanship

In this blog I'm discussing how I use other training techniques such as Intelligent Horsemanship. IH was created by Monty Roberts after he studied horses natural herd behaviours in the wild. I used intelligent horsemanship to train Jet in tackless riding and teach her to respond to voice commands, it worked so well and our bond has grown stronger and stronger.

    Benefits of a Non-Horsey Job

Ever since I started riding it was always a dream of mine to be a stable girl and to work on a yard, not necessarily as a career but certainly throughout my teenage years. At the age of 10 I joined a hacking yard located on Exmoor and fell in love with the freedom of hacking, especially across the moors and along the famous North Devon coastline. At the age of 13 my long-standing dream became reality, I was officially an employee on the yard, however 5 years later I am now currently in very different employment.

Not On My Yard - Do's and don't at a livery yard

Hi everyone, my names Tayah and I’m delighted to be a part of Tottie this year as one of their #Select17 girls! I’m 19 years old and am currently based in the South Leicestershire area where I live and work. Horses are a huge part of my life and I have been riding since I was 8 years old, I currently have a beautiful gypsy cob mare called Arabella who I’ve had for the best part of 2 years now. We are mostly just happy hackers but this year we are hoping to get out and about a little bit and try our hand (and hoof) at showing.

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my second Tottie blog of 2017! I hope you enjoyed my last one and in this blog, I’m going to introduce you to my Welsh Section D, Ben and let you know what we get up to in the run up to summer competitions. We don’t have a strict training schedule as such but we work on various aspects of our jumping or flatwork to prepare for upcoming shows so we can do our very best! If you would like to know how, just keep reading!

The second month of 2017 is nearly through. Wow! Very soon I will be getting my two horses, Jet and Dude back from their time away in the field. This means bringing them back into work! It is going to be a huge challenge, but challenge accepted! I will be taking them back to a yard in Cookham where I was before. I love it here and it’s the best yard we’ve ever been at! They have all the facilities including a horse walker!

  6. Not Owning A Horse

    Not Owning A Horse

For as long as I can remember, all I’ve ever wanted is my own horse, but for a number of reasons that hasn’t been possible. However, this has not stopped me from perusing my love for riding, being with horses and hopefully a career in the equine environment. Having lived in a very rural, horsey area I have been lucky with the wide variety of opportunities that have been available to me, so I want to show you what possibilities there could be out there for you too...
