Hi everyone, my name is Romy Fryer and I’m a Tottie #select17 girl! I’m 17 and based in South Devon with my two steeds. I’m currently studying psychology, maths stats and geography at a sixth form, which I love! Psychology is probably my least favourite as theres so much content but its mostly interesting, a lot of writing though! Maths is my guilty pleasure, I really enjoy it, and theres something so satisfying about getting questions right, but the A level course is very tricky (touch wood I’m keeping up so far!) Geography is my true love...

Hi everyone, my name is Maddie Stout, I’m a 17 year old Eventer! I compete in British Eventing at BE100 level, hoping to move up to Novice this season. My riding career started when I was around 3 years old. I lived in Australia for two years and learnt to ride at a centre called Darkes Forest! I rode a pony called chicken nugget and went on trail rides! When my family and I moved back from Australia, I rode at riding schools and had lessons on my friend’s ponies. I got my first pony when I was 10, his name was Breeze!

Hi I’m Georgie, I am honoured to have been selected as one of the Select 17 girls and I’m incredibly excited for the year ahead with team Tottie. A little information about me; I’ve been riding for over 10 years, initially at a riding stables, then I worked on a hacking yard on Exmoor for 5 years which taught me more than anything, especially how to stick to naughty ponies! For the last 5 years I’ve been lucky enough to part loan a 16hh Cleveland Bay called Fiddler, he has previously competed in higher levels of dressage but now we love to show and jump...

With the lighter nights , warmer weather and for some of us a new season drawing closer it's essential that both you and your horse are ready for what 2017 may bring. Fitness: Ensuring  your horse is fit enough for its work load is a number one priority. The hard work needs to begin now and needs to be slowly built up. All horses are individuals some may take longer than others. The current workload the horse is in and the ideal eventual peak fitness also needs to be taken into account.

Hey everyone, I'm Hannah and I'm one of the brand new #Select17 girls and I'll be working with Tottie throughout the year. I suppose this blog post is maybe a little different to the usual horsey blog posts you see, but I think it is something that we should all think about with our horses and ponies, riding is fun from show jumping, dressage, cross country, barrel racing and showing but all of these are done in the saddle which I understand is why we have horses in the first place, riding is our hobby after all!

Welcome to my first Tottie blog of 2017! At last we’ve past the longest say of the year, days are getting longer and (thankfully) evenings are slowly getting brighter! If, like me, you spend all day long stuck behind a desk at school, college or university, you’ll understand the pain of riding in the evenings (if not, lucky you!).  I love hacking on Ben’s ‘quiet’ days, nothing beats a good relaxing stroll through the English country side but there are plenty of precautions we must take as riders on the roads.
