Hey everyone! Welcome to Aprils blog, a quick diary entry about what I’ve been getting up to recently and an inside look at being a Tottie Select 17 girl. I’ve been super busy this year already with Tottie, University applications and general horsey adventures and things are thankfully beginning to fall into place for me, which is crazy exciting! I can’t wait to let you all know, continue to read on if you want a peek into what I’ve been up to.

    A Thrifty Equestrian

Hi everyone, my names Tayah and I’m delighted to be apart of Tottie this year as one of their #Select17 girls! I’m 19 years old and am currently based in the South Leicestershire area where I live and work. Horses are a huge part of my life and I have been riding since I was 8 years old, I currently have a beautiful gypsy cob mare called Arabella who I’ve had for the best part of 2 years now. We are mostly just happy hackers but this year we are hoping to get out and about a little bit and try our hand (and hoof) at showing.

For the last 5 years I have had the privilege of riding Fiddler, a 24 year old semi-retired dressage horse. Those of you who follow my Instagram will know what an incredible horse he was, he was a cheeky character and taught me a huge amount, bringing my riding on leaps and bounds. Fiddler was also a very strong character and didn’t know any signs of being ill up until a week before he was PTS. I want to share a bit of Fiddler’s story with you but also how to make the most of every second you spend with your horse.

  4. A Day In The Life Of Tayah

A Day In The Life Of Tayah

Life with Arabella is pretty simple. She is a very low maintenance horse who requires the bare minimum in order to keep her happy. Arabella is what you would call a “good doer” in the horsey world; she keeps her weight well, she doesn’t get fizzy if you leave her for weeks without work and she’s more than happy to live in the field without being touched!

  5. When Your Horse Is Injured

    When Your Horse Is Injured

We’ve all been there, you spend months prepping for one competitive goal, you spend every waking minute thinking up new ways to desensitise your horse to fluorescent chequerboard fillers, compete with teeth and horse-eating monsters; or whether the farmer will reallllly mind too much if you use his field for extra conditioning work? It does have the perfect gradient after all!

A Day As An Equine Therapist

Whenever you think of a physiotherapist, I’m sure many of you think also of an equine therapist for whenever your own horse has aches and pains. I’m currently studying Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at university. This is my final year and I have learnt so many interesting things about the Equine Therapy business. Read on to learn about my semester two daily lessons!
